The course introduces the use of mathematical models both in the time domain and frequency domain in order to design controllers for single-input single-output linear systems.
Prerequisites
Linear Algebra, Calculus and Mathematical Methods for Engineering.

1 - Introduction to Automation and to the notion of system
2 - Modeling: electrical, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic systems
3- Analysis of linear time-invariant systems:
modal analysis, stability, ROuth criterion, zeros poles and dynamics
4- Nonlinear systems and linearization: Lyapunov stability criterion
5- Frequency domain analysis of linear systems: frequency response, Bode diagram, Nyquist diagram
7- Root locus
8- Specifications for control systems
9- Synthesis of control systems: trial and error, direct synthesis, root-locus and PID regulators
10- Basics on digital control systems
