Course teached as: B010342 - MISURE ELETTRONICHE Second Cycle Degree in ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING
Teaching Language
ITALIAN
Course Content
Basic information is provided concerning the operation of measuring instruments for RF applications, such as spectrum analyzers, power meters and vector impedance meters. The fundamental characteristics of ancillary equipments (cables, attenuators, terminations, directional couplers) are discussed. A specific focus on EMC measurements and related instrumentations (LISN, EMI receivers, antennas, impulse and ESD generators, anechoic chambers) is also offered.
For general purpose measuring instrumentation see:
- Giovanni Colella, "Manuale di metrologia e strumentazione elettronica", Hoepli, 2006 (italian)
- Agilent Technologies, Application Note 150, "Spectrum Analysis Basics", 2006.
- The material that can be downloaded from www.emc.unifi.it (mixed, italian - english).
Learning Objectives
To provide basic knowledge about operation and use of electronic instrumentation for measurements in the frequency domain, measurement
techniques adopted for radiofrequency measurements. The capability to correctly perform measurements is developed through practical laboratory sessions.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of circuit theory (lumped electrical models), electromagnetic fields (distributed electrical models and radiation) and basic electrical measurements (analog and digital oscilloscope, multimeter, measuremet uncertainty).
Teaching Methods
Lectures and practical laboratory sessions.
Further information
Exams: use the web application provided by SIAF.
Type of Assessment
Oral examination.
