Learning Objectives
Provide students of mechanical and energy engineering with the tools they need to evaluate the economic cost of energy products (mechanical / electrical energy and heat) and the influence of irreversibility on that cost.
Prerequisites
Thermo-economics course (T-3 CFU) requires a more advanced preparation on thermodynamics (corresponding to the degree of an industrial grade): however, the thermodynamic approach is briefly reviewed, also to easily introduce the practical use of 'exergy for the evaluation of irreversibility of different nature and optimization of performance. A sufficiently advanced use of a Thermodynamic Analysis SW (EES) is envisaged with many developed examples .
Teaching Methods
Laboratory / Project: Thermo-economic analysis of a system and / or energy component. Drawing up a short technical report
