What is the TOLC Test for Engineering
The TOLC-I TEST is the entry knowledge assessment required for all open-access Engineering degree programs at the University of Florence.
- Passing the test is not required for enrollment, but it is strongly recommended to take it by August 31 of the year in which you intend to enroll.
- All procedures and information are provided in the relevant Call for Applications for the entry knowledge assessment.
For the professionally oriented degree program [LP-01] Techniques and Technologies for Construction and Territory, which has limited admission, you must take the TOLC-LP and apply for the selection process according to the procedures and deadlines indicated in the call for applications.
When and where to take the TOLC Test
- TOLC-I and TOLC-LP test dates are available at: https://testcisia.it/calendario.php
- Students may take the test at any affiliated test center.
- The test can be taken starting from the 4th year of high school. It is recommended to take at least one TOLC-I before the start of classes in order to sit exams without delays.
Additional Learning Requirements (OFA)
OFA are assigned to students who enroll but do not achieve the minimum required score in the TOLC tests.
Thresholds are defined each year in the Call for Applications.
For the academic year 2026/27, the thresholds are:
-
Open-access programs (TOLC-I): total score below 16/50 (excluding the English section) or below 8/20 in the Mathematics section.
-
Professional programs (TOLC-LP): score below 4/10 in the Mathematics section.
You may enroll even with OFA, but they must be fulfilled before you can take exams in mathematics and physics subjects.
