What is the Erasmus+ Program for Study?
The Erasmus+ Study Programme offers students the opportunity to spend a semester or academic year at one of our partner universities. This programme allows students to immerse themselves in a new culture, explore different higher education systems, improve their foreign language skills, and meet students from around the world, with guaranteed recognition of credits earned abroad.
What are the planned activities abroad?
What are the requirements to participate?
Applicants must:
1. Be a regularly enrolled student in a first, second, or third-cycle degree program at the University of Florence. Students enrolled in single courses are NOT eligible. Part-time students must convert their enrollment to full-time before departure.
2. Have knowledge of the language required by the Host Institution(s) indicated in their preferences.
Please note: It is possible to participate in the Erasmus+ program during a Bachelor's degree and later during a Master's degree, provided enrollment in the Master's program is confirmed before departure.
How to apply
Applications can be submitted only once a year during the Erasmus+ Call period and exclusively through the online system using your registration number (Matricola) and password.
What is the duration of the mobility?
The mobility period must be at least two months (60 days) and at most twelve months (360 days). The period must occur within the academic year following the publication of the Erasmus+ Call. Students may participate in both Erasmus+ Study and Traineeship programs, but the combined duration cannot exceed twelve months per study cycle.
Which universities can I choose?
The School of Engineering provides a List of Agreements with all information regarding partner universities available for mobility.
Scholarship
Successful applicants will receive a scholarship. It provides financial support and contributes to additional expenses during the stay abroad. The grant amount varies by host country and will be paid upon arrival.
Erasmus+ students must continue paying tuition fees to the University of Florence while studying abroad but are exempt from tuition fees at the host institution. Some fees for specific services may still apply, as for local students at the host institution.
Student selection criteria
Students will be evaluated based on:
Note: For first-year Master's students, academic standing is based on credits earned in the Master's program before the application deadline, while academic performance is based on the Bachelor's degree grade.
Points awarded for each language level (highest level considered if multiple certificates are provided for the same language):
| Language certificate | Points |
| C2 | 10 |
| C1 or mother tongue | 8 |
| B2 | 7 |
| B1 | 4 |
| A2 | 2 |
| A1 | 1 |
Required language certificates are listed in the Erasmus+ Call.
Students without a valid language certificate must register at the University Language Center (CLA) to take a test before the application deadline. When booking, mention it is for the Erasmus+ Call.
Students may take additional language tests to improve a certified level or certify other languages (maximum 15 points total for language skills).
The motivation statement is scored between 8 and 15 points. Applications scoring below 8 will not be considered.
Choice of Host Institutions
Each student may apply to a maximum of five host institutions, submitting a preliminary Learning Agreement for their first choice (submission for the second choice is recommended but optional). Verify course compatibility with your study plan.
Criteria for selecting Host Institutions
A list of partner institutions is in the Excel document "List of Agreements", containing:
Notes on ISCED Codes
Specific ISCED codes limit course choices to that sector, while generic codes allow courses from any sector. Typical engineering ISCED codes:
| ISCED Code | Description | Disciplinary area |
| 071 | Engineering and Engineering Trades | All Engineering sectors |
| 0713 | Electricity and Energy | Energy |
| 0714 | Electronics and Automation | Electronic, Computer and Biomedical |
| 0715 | Mechanics and Metal Trades | Mechanical and Management |
| 0413, 0719 | Management and administration | Management |
| 0732 | Building and Civil Engineering | Civil, Building and Environmental |
| 061 | Information and Communication Technologies | Computer |
| 052 | Environmental Sciences | Environmental and Energy |
Note: Students do not have to match their Unifi course to the ISCED code; it indicates the area of courses offered at the host institution.
Select Suitable Host Institutions
Use filters in the Excel file List of Agreements by ISCED Code, Required Language, and Type.
Preparing the preliminary Learning Agreement
Students may choose compulsory or elective exams. An Excel file "Exams recognized in the last 4 years" Exams recognized in the last 4 years lists validated exams. Verify actual course availability in the "Course Link" field.
For compulsory exams, obtain a signed "Equivalence Form" Equivalence Form from the UNIFI professor, including the syllabus. Free choice exams do not require equivalence. Erasmus Delegates provide advice after the initial selection. 1 ECTS = 1 CFU.
Maximum/Minimum ECTS Credits during Erasmus mobility
Maximum: 60 ECTS per year (30 ECTS per semester). Minimum: 2 ECTS per month. The host institution may require higher minimums (20-30 ECTS per semester).
Summary of materials to submit
Once all required materials are gathered, students can submit their mobility application through the Turul system, following the registration terms and conditions.
Turul Application Submission Step-by-Step
How to submit your application:
Please note: After completing the Turul submission, send equivalence forms to international@ingegneria.unifi.it.
Publication of eligible student lists and acceptance of Host Institution
Ranking lists with scores, host institution, and proposed months will be published on Turul. All selection operations and updates are available on "your competitions" page. Students are responsible for checking results, timelines, and deadlines.
To accept the assigned host institution:
Students have 3 working days to accept or reject the assigned institution (including publication and closing day). Check Turul frequently.
When accepting the institution, indicate mobility duration in months. This is binding for grant calculation. The expected departure date on Turul is indicative and may be adjusted during contract signing.
Eligible students should contact the International Relations Office of the School of Engineering for support.
Before departure, students must:
Notes about the scholarship
After certifying arrival at the host institution (signed certificate), an initial payment is made for all months except the last, with final payment after mobility to settle the actual stay.
Deadlines during mobility:
After returning to Italy, students must:
