Erasmus+ for Traineeship mobility

Erasmus+ Traineeship Mobility 2025-2026

What is the Erasmus+ Traineeship?

The Erasmus+ Traineeship Programme gives students the opportunity to enhance their academic and professional profile through an internship abroad. Internships may take place in any public (including universities) or private sector organization, regardless of its size, legal status, or economic sector.

Planned activities abroad

  • Carrying out curricular or extracurricular internships at companies, training centers, or research institutions partnered with the University.
  • Developing a thesis, or part of it, according to a work plan approved by the Italian supervisor and the host institution.
  • Participating in programmed activities within the framework of doctoral research.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in a first, second, or third cycle degree program at the University of Florence (according to Ministerial Decrees 509/99 or 270/2004). Students enrolled in single courses or incoming exchange students are not eligible. Part-time students must convert to full-time before departure.
  2. Language proficiency: Candidates must have certified proficiency in at least one foreign language in addition to Italian. The language does not need to match the language of the host destination.

Note: It is possible to apply during the bachelor’s program and carry out mobility during the master’s program, provided that the student is enrolled in a master’s program before departure.

Who is eligible?

  • Students enrolled in first, second, or third cycle degree programs wishing to undertake curricular or extracurricular internships in EU countries.
  • Recent graduates may also apply if the internship is completed within 12 months of graduation. Applications must be submitted before graduation, and internships must start and end within 12 months post-graduation, in line with the call deadlines.

Types of Host Institutions

  • Partner Institutions (Generic Letter of Intent): Institutions with pre-existing agreements with the University. See List of Agreements.
  • Self-Sourced Host (Nominative Letter of Intent): An institution independently identified by the student, different from those with pre-existing agreements.

Students may only choose one type of host institution.

Duration of Mobility

The mobility period must be between 2 and 12 months of physical presence. Virtual periods may be allowed if approved by the host. Short mobility is also possible (5–30 days) and must be combined with a virtual component (except for doctoral students). Students who previously received an Erasmus+ grant may still apply if at least 2 months of mobility remain for their cycle.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted through the Turul online platform during the call period, using student ID and password.

Mobility Grants

Successful applicants will receive a grant to partially cover the costs of the stay. The amount depends on the host country and is paid after the host confirms arrival. Students continue paying tuition at the University of Florence but are exempt from host institution fees, except specific local charges.
