After two years of activity at the Enel Nuclear Power Plant Design Center, he joints University as assistant Professor in 1975 and in 1980 became Full Professor in Fluiddynamics of Turbomachinery.
He together with colleague Stecco, founds the Energy Engineering Department and is the Director for the first 3 years, in 1985 he establishes the Doctoral school of Energetics (at the dept.) which he remains Director of up 2008 when he became Director of the wider PhD Engineering School untill 2011.
He Established (2005) the Centre for Renewable Energy (CREAR) and remains the Director of until his retirements 2017.
He promoted (2010) the Consortium for for Renewable Energy (RE-CORD, Renewable Energy Consortium for Research & Demostration) and remains in its executive board until retirements;
He has been the leader of a reasearch Group TCR “Turbomachinery & Combustion Research Group) of the Department (a group of about fourtheen Researchers , 3 in staff and 9-11 Post-Doc and PhD Students) ;
Chairman of the Turbomachinery Committee of the ATI (Italian Association for Thermomechanics);
Member of "ASME Turbomachinery Committee "
National Delegate of the "International Society for Air Breathing Engines;
Coordinator of the “Italy Pilot Center –ERCOFTAC”(1995-2011)

He has been President of the Italy Community of Turbomachinery and Energy System Professors : 2009-2011;

He has been the Chairman of European Turbomachinery Society “EUROTURBO” established in March 2012 until 2021 and now he is the Treasurer;
He was working since 1975 in the field of Turbomachinery Fluid dynamics and Energy conversion System, with special attention to Gas Turbine components (turbine and Combustor).
He worked as consulting for Enterprise as Ansaldo, Nuovo Pignone, N.Pignone–GE, Alfa Avio, Enel Research Center for Combustion , Snia BPD, ASI (Italian Space Agency), etc.. in the several Projects:
Blade Design by Numerical Procedure; Turbine stage Optimisation, Analysis of Propulsion feed system; Numerical study in Aerodynamics of Combustors; Improvement of Turbine Design Criteria; Fluiddynamic solver for rockets channels; Preliminary Study of Hydrogen Pump, etc.

- CEE-BRITE/EURAM IV (framework II-III- IV-V) (Mixing process for coolant ejection- AITEB-TATEF & TATEF2 – Projects, TASK leader) (1989/2008); He was and he is working within some projects as Associate Partners in Brite/Euram programmes since 1989,(Wake blade interference in transonic HP Turbines with SNECMA,ROLL-ROYCE, MTU, FIAT, ITP,ABB, Alstom , DERA, ALFA,……. In all these projects he was the task Leader, in charge of the Numerical modelling of the Gas Turbine fluid dynamic behaviour.
- BRITE/EURAM “Methods Project ” ,Optimisation of Centrifugal Impeller (Main Contractor) (1999-2004)
- “LIFE BIOSIT” on Use of Bio Fuels in Tuscany (Main Contractor)
- Network on Convergence and Quality Improvements in 3D Navier-Stokes Solver and tools for turbomachinery design
- International Master on Biofuel and Environmental studies (joint project with USA University)
Within Six EU-FP He leads several Projects on Renewable Energy, as “Main Contractor” since 2004 up to day for more then 5 M€.
