Achievement of the theoretical background necessary for understanding the behavior of electrical networks and deriving their input/output relationships.
Ability to use the appropriate technical terminology, in order to:
• Understand the literature about electrical networks;
• Effectively present subjects relevant to the discipline;
• Critically discuss the subjects treated in the course.
Development of the competences necessary for the prosecution of the studies and for an autonomous adjournment.
Comprehension of techniques, methods and their limitations, taking into account non-technical implications.
Ability to combine theory and practice to solve multidisciplinary problems, taking into account constraints of non-technical nature, working in cooperation with other engineers and other professional figures.

1) The exam consists of a written test and an oral test. These tests can be taken in any exam session (see also the web page “Servizio Prenotazioni Esami di Ateneo”: http://sol.unifi.it/prenot/prenot). Each test is to be considered passed with a result of at least 18. The oral test can be attended only after having successfully passed the written test and only within the same exam.

2) There will be two or three intermediate tests to check the learning level on the taught subject. Only the students currently taking the course can undergo the intermediate tests. These tests consist of exercises on simple electrical circuits and a questionnaire, mainly theoretical, with multiple choice questions. A passing grade for all intermediate tests (i.e. at least 18 in each one) allows:

a) If the average grade is between 21 and 27:
- to confirm such a grade without taking any oral test;
b) if the average grade is higher than 27:
- to confirm the grade 27 without taking any oral test;
- to confirm the average grade with a reduced oral test (N.B.: in case of negative result of the oral test, the final grade can be lower than 27);
c) to take the exam in any session of the same academic year without the need to take the written test again. However, in case of a negative result or after a not accepted one, who chooses this possibility cannot any longer register the average grade.

A sufficient grade in only one intermediate test allows to gain access to the oral test without the need to undergo the written one. In all the other cases it is necessary to take both the written and the oral test.

3) The oral test deals with all the program (i. e. it is not possible to take the oral test only on the subjects of the insufficient intermediate tests).

4) Who intends to take the intermediate tests, written tests and/or oral tests must always register on the web page “Servizio Prenotazioni Esami di Ateneo”: http://sol.unifi.it/prenot/prenot. In order to avoid long waiting times and arrange the exams in a systematic way, the students must answer the roll call on the day of each oral test, within half past nine. The students are considered retreated if they do not answer the call; consequently they cannot take the oral test.

The exam aims at verifying:
- The knowledge of the main methodologies for the analysis and the understanding of the behavior of electrical systems;
- The ability to use in an appropriate way the terminology of the subject;
- The ability to understand the literature related to the analysis and operations of electrical systems;
- The ability to acquire methodological tools for the continuation of the studies and for an autonomous personal professional updating.
