Learning Objectives
Ca3: ability to select and apply appropriate analytical and modelling methods based on calculus and numerical calculation, to simulate components and systems in order to estimate and improve their performanceCa5: ability to select and use tools, intruments, procedures and methods in engineering, knowing their potentialities and limitations; ability to perform complex experiments, eventually using instruments and software.Ca10: ability to operate as individual and as part of a group, showing ability in engineering problem solving and adopting a multi-disciplinary approachCa15: improve student knowledge in order to access to the third level of academical studies (e.g. master and/or Phd schools)
Prerequisites
Basic competencies on road vehicle (overall design characteristics and vehicle dynamics)Knowledge of electric engineering and mechatronics fundamentalsFundamentals of numerical calculation – to be used for vehicle modeling and simulation
Teaching Methods
Class lectures held by the teacher; proposal of a number of seminars prepared in collaboration with other teachers and/or professionists.Exercise sessions using simulation tools (mainly Matlab/Simulink, but also the use of Siemens AMESIM is possible)Overview on laboratory equipment and components.
Type of Assessment
The exam consists of a discussion between teacher and candidate. The results of exercises and laboratory activities will not directly determine the exam evaluation, however it is necessary to know the topic and the contents of the exercise. The exam includes a brief discussion on a scientific topic selected by the candidate during the period of lectures.
