General objective: providing students competencies on
manufacturing technologies and their sustainability assessment to realize and compare process plans, taking into account both efficiency and sustainability.
The course will contribute to the following learning objectives
specific of the Master Programme:
Knowledge and understanding
cc2 The systemic knowledge of methodologies, technologies, and key aspects of the life cycle assessment of a product, process or service.
cc3 The knowledge of technologies related to the end-of-life treatment of products for re-use, re- manufacturing, and recycling.
Applying knowledge and understanding
ca1: The ability to identify, formulate and solve industrial
engineering problems, defining specifications, technical, social, environmental, and commercial constraints.
ca3 The ability to select and apply methods for the development of new processes, systems, and components.
ca5 The ability to combine theory and practice to identify and solve multidisciplinary engineering problems, considering constraints,
including non- technical ones.
Making judgements
ag1: The ability to independently analyse data and information, draw objective conclusions and make consequential decisions.
Communication skills
ac2: The ability to professionally present problems, solutions,
analyses and results through written reports and verbal
presentations.
Learning skills
ap1: The capacity for continuous and autonomous learning, and self-updating in the relevant engineering area.
Prerequisiti
Knowledge of manufacturing technologies
Metodi Didattici
- Theoretical classes
- Lab experiences on re-manufacturing and machining technologies
- Project work on sustainable process planning and re-
manufacturing
Modalità di verifica apprendimento
The level of knowledge acquired by the student will be evaluated by an oral exam focused on the theoretical part (cc2, ac2) and the
development of a process planning project considering the sustainability as a driver for the process and parameters selection
(ca1, ca3) and re-manufacturing strategies (cc3) for a mechanical component. The study will be developed by a group of students to
foster their capability to work as a team. To develop such project, students must autonomously seek new knowledge for the optimal
section of processes parameters and tooling, looking to on-line and
technical recourses (ap1, ag1) combining theory and practical
aspects of manufacturing and re-manufacturing processes (ca5, ag1).
