Course program
Elements of Solid Mechanics: deformation, stress and constitutive equations of linear elastic materials.
Explicit solution of some equilibrium problems.
Theory of plasticity: main yield criteria (v. Mises, Tresca, Mohr-Coulomb, Drucker-Prager); dissipation postulates and their consequences; flow rule; elastoplastic equilibrium, uniqueness and stability of the solution.
Limit analysis: weak formulation of the equilibrium condition; static and kinematic theorems; applications to soil plasticity.
